“Send Them To a Private School … “

One of the sites that I sometimes read, but rarely post about is
Twitchy. However, on 4/29 Twitchy had an excellent article about the oral arguments in Mahmoud v.Taylor, which is presently being argued at the Supreme Court.
Basically the case has to do with questionable material being force fed to K-5 children in Montgomery County, Maryland. In Montgomery County, the school district decided to push LGBTQ ideology hard during pride month a few years back, pushing their agenda on elementary schoolchildren. A number of Muslim and Catholic parents objected, wanting their children to be allowed to opt out. Whereas it had been okay previously for parents to opt out of certain things, because there was such a high number of opt-outs, the school board basically said “no opt-outs on this one.”
After reading some of the questions asked by Justices Alito, Gorsuch, Barrett, and Thomas, it appears that the petitioners will prevail. However, it was the comments of liberal Justice Jackson that Twitchy focused on. Justice Jackson noted that parents could send their children to private school if they didn’t like what the school in Montgomery Country was teaching.
Obviously, there are some practical problems concerning sending children to private schools.
After all, the reality is that many people can’t afford the tuition for a private school, nor can they take time off of a paying job to stay home to homeschool their children. We’re not saying it’s impossible to pick those options, but it is difficult and so, as a practical matter, many parents are absolutely forced to send their children to public schools.
So Twitchy suggested that Justice Jackson was endorsing robust vouchers for private schools. Wouldn’t that be something if a liberal Justice was in essence saying, “if you do not like what the public school is teaching your children, send them to a private school, and the state will pay for it.”
